Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management & Travel Tourism, Pune organizes study tours for its students at Independence Brewery Mundhwa Park, Pune.

The aim of visit is adding value to the Curriculum, as on site visit makes better learning experience. 
On 12th February 2018, the first year and Third Year students of BSc Hospitality visited Independence Brewery which is located in Mundhwa, Pune. Independence Brewery is a pub brewery manufacturing a comprehensive variety of gourmet and craft beers .The process of manufacturing beer at this brewery is similar to normal beers.



Mr. Vinayak, the General Manager welcomed the students and guided to the brewery and introduced to Mr. Pruthvi Brew Manager. He showed them basic beer ingredients which they import from Belgium, students also seen various cereals used for preparing beer. Students had visited the complete brew system and witness the step by step beer making process. From selection of Grains, crushing, boiling, fermentation to draft system.

The students were happy that they had been given the opportunity to experience the beer manufacturing process and to actually see the ingredients like hops and barley of which they had only seen the pictures.

Brew Master has showed various types of beers and explained the types of beer and technical difference between each other. He explained the difference between bottled beer and freshly brewed beers.

At the end of the Tour, the students asked Mr. Pruthvi and Mr. Vinayak questions which they answered with patience and also told the students that “to be successful in the industry they have to work hard and be enthusiastic about their careers”.

To add value to the knowledge and the current situation regarding Hospitality. Students of Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management, Travel And Tourism has visited for the specially arranged demonstration of Sushi and Memo on 23rd January 2018. Students of BSc HS (Third Year) Batch 2015-2018 & BSc HS (First year) students of Batch 2017-2020 have got this opportunity.

Mr. Aroop Chatterji Food & Beverage Manager has inducted students about the Hotel’s Food & Beveverage Operations. Chef Tenzin Nayndak Executive Sous Chef (Specialist in Pan Asian Cuisine) has conducted demonstration on Sushi and Momo, he is kind enough to brief each recipe step by step.
Our students learnt the process of sushi & momos making, different equipments used, different types of machinery & moulds used, types of exotic ingridients like nori sheets, wakame, wasabi, smoked salmon, pickled ginger, sauces used etc. The students also learned the temperature & technique of rolling the sushi and its names like nigri sushi, osomaki sushi, sashimi and also different shapes and types of momos . After which the students were given an opportunity to roll sushis and momos and for tasting as well.

Faculty visited along with students Prof. Ulhas Chaudhari, Prof. Preeti Kumtha & Prof. Prem Suryawanshi. Suryadatta always encourages students for such endeavors. This is an unique experience for these students. Such experiences give students an edge over the others in their professional life and also encourage and motivate others. 


 SCHMTT has organized industry visit to Sula winery for the BSC HS SY & TY students to enhance the wine production knowledge and to explore the
 exciting 
career in beverage industry.

 

As a part of curriculum SCHMTT has organized industry visit to Sula winery for the BSC HS SY & TY students to enhance the wine production knowledge and to explore the exciting career in beverage industry.

Sula Vineyards is located approximately 230 kms from Pune. It is a perfect getaway on a Weekdays for students educational visit of acres of land with wine grape plants, a wine factory and wine tasting. Iternery for visit for a day  winery tour, wine tasting, at their rooftop restaurant as well as restaurants Little Italy and Soma which is adjacent to the main building. It also houses an amphitheater and landscape gardening which can become an alternate picnic spot.

A guide met us at the ground floor reception who gave us a brief history of the company and then took us through various steps of wine making, tank maturing, barrel maturing and procedure for bottling, etc. in the factory located behind the main building. Towards the end, he lead us to a large hall which has on ambience of a vintage bar with wooden barrels as the theme. Here, we were given a brief understanding about the types of wines and also we got to taste white, red and rose wines. 

 Outcome - Students learn wine grape growing process, grape crushing, fermentation and storage of wine. had very good experience of Winery visit as it was live demo for them how wines are made and how vineyards are maintained and  they understood complete processes of Vinification. The visit was worth even it was time consuming for traveling.

Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management & Travel Tourism Pune planned a Industrial canteen visit at Cummins India Ltd for the students of S.Y. BSc. H.S. on 21st July 2017.The operation In Charge Mrs.Sonali Sidhaye coordinated the complete visit with informative knowledge about starting from storage of raw materials, cooking and dining area of the same.

The student had a very different experience as they had witnessed the complete operation of a huge canteen ,it was also one of the largest canteen in Maharashtra. Students were overwhelmed to see the very large cooking equipments and the actual bulk cooking. Mr.Kulkarni also explained the characteristic difference between ordinary catering and the Industrial catering. Students visit all the respective areas and got the information of it. Head Chef explain the entire day to day kitchen operation to the students.
Later lunch was organized for the students in the VIP canteen.
After the lunch there was a small felicitation is done for the Mrs. Sonali Shidhaye and Sr. Canteen Manager Mr.A.P.Kulkarni, this time question- answer session was organized where students asked many questions regarding the same.
Overall this visit was very informative & a learning experience for the students wherein they have seen and understand the complete operation of Industrial canteen and it will help them in their future career.


Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management & Travel Tourism Pune.organized a visit for the first year students of BSc HS at Shivaji Market on 19th September 2017 at 9:00 am onwards.

 

The objective of this visit is that students should know the various commodities and ingredients Used in cooking.This visit was a part of their curriculum. Shivaji Market is one of the oldest market of Pune Camp, established by British.It is situated at the heart of the city.students visited various market like Fish(Pompfret,Rohu,Hilsa,Bombay Duck,Basa,Surmai Mackrel,shellfish like prawns,,Lobster,Crab,Mussels etc,Poultry,Mutton,Vegetables and Fruits,Beef, Pork,Venkeys outlet, Convenience food and International cuisine ingredients outlets.
By visiting each market students understood the various types of fish, their rates, transportion, and their preserving method, various cuts of poultry,Mutton,Beef etc.
Students also visit venkys outlets where they got to see various ready to cook veg and non veg products like chi.nuggets,cutlets cooked kheema,cheese and onion sausages,veg and chicken burger, Hariyali kebab, Salami Roll etc.
Students asked the question to the vendor regarding the products.
This visit was very useful for the students,surely it will help them in their study.

Ambassador Sky Chef - Flight Kitchen, Radisson Blu Hotel, Altbagh, United Brewery, Sula Winery, Le Meridien, Pune, Rama International, Aurangabad, Oberoi Trident, Mumbai, Vivanta by Taj, Blue Diamond, Pune, Mapro Jams and Jellies, Panchganl are some of the places our students have visited. The visits help the students to understand the practicality of the Hospitality Industry.

To add value to the knowledge and the current situation regarding Hospitality the faculty & students, a group of 120 people of Suryadatta College Of Hospitality Management, Travel And Tourism visited the Novotel hotel, Ibis hotel (Accor group of hotels) and Foodhall(Phoenix market city) on 8th August 2014

Mr. Manikanta Training & Development Manager ,Ms.Roopal & Ms. Swati Asst. Training Managers of Novotel Pune inducted the students to the different departments in the hotel. The students were briefed about the working procedures and the hotels standards of both back of the house and the front of the house areas of the hotels The areas that were visited were Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, Pool bar & lounge as well as the different types of rooms and suites.They even showed us the conference and banqueting areas and function areas of the hotel.

Mr. Vincent Training Manager Ibis hotel introduced the students to the New age concept of Select Service Hospitality and its vogue in India.

The visit to Food Hall – a Gourmet store which sells international food and food products was a brain booster . There was  an array of International products on display like cheese, vegetables, pre packed products, Cold Meats, Frozen Products .Chef Shamboo Sharan gave a live demo on American food culture which was the theme of the month at Food hall. The students were very happy to see the products about which they had learnt about in Class.

At the end of the session the students asked many questions about the right mannerisms & an apt attitude required in the hospitality Industry. The Mentors answered all the questions with patience and told the students that to be successful in the industry they have to work hard and be enthusiastic about their careers.
